You never can tell with the moon

Abdel-Rahman said the trial will continue Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the date of the Islamic new year, which is set according to the sighting of a new moon.

I guess the Mohammedens haven't yet figured out that the cycles of the moon occur according to a predictable schedule. You might notice, for instance, that Easter is already marked on the calander. For more Sadam trial hilarity, see the article here.
