Live from New York

Layla is in New York this week with UTM's honors program. Apparently at some schools, being an honors student means something (I wish I went to one of those schools).

Anyway, she reports that the Metropolitan Museum has a large collection of "Catholic goodies," including a good number of sacred vessels labelled "cup with lid." Cup with lid -- think about that for a minute.

"Cup with lid"? I had to laugh at that one...

That's kind of depressing.

Although, to be fair, I always get a little bit depressed when I see medieval art and artifacts in museums, instead of in churches, where they belong.

Or, it could be worse and be in a museum/church, as is the case in much of Europe... York Minster comes to mind as a prime example, with a very nice collection of "Catholic goodies" in a museum in the crypt, gathering dust.
