Have you seen this man?

Those familiar with Irish politics will recognize Bertie Ahern, the Taoiseach (prime minister) of the Irish Dail (parliament). Like countries throughout the western world, Ireland has been beset recently by homosexual-privileges activists demanding all manner of inanities.

Mr. Ahern is currently in India for a trade conference. While there, far out of reach of angry citizens and prying news reporters, he has announced that his government will introduce a bill giving homosexual unions the economic and legal protections of marriage. What makes it even wilder is that he admits, in the same speech, that the Irish people don't want this. It's not even a matter of pretending "well, this is what the law actually says and we can't get around it," as was the case in Massachusetts. No. He simply says "who gives a fig what all you little people [no pun intended] think."

Irish politics are a bit too unscrutable to say who would be better in Mr. Ahern's post, but he should take notice that democracies have a word for people who do things like this: "former Prime Minister."
